“…It’s shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficoult. Muad’Dib knew that every experience carries it’s lesson”
from “The Humanity of Muad’Dib” by the Princess Irulan
from “Dune” by Frank Herbert
I love to learn. I’d like to learn so many things, but i don’t have enough time to even start them. It’s just it’s so unfair…
Learning is a process, where the information becomes part of you. This is quite different from studying: a mere categorization of the information, so that it can be retreived when required.
There are many methods that make you learn with powerful processes and easy steps, like Supermemo. And there are so many Supermemo data to use with that program, that you might remain astonished.
Yet it’s still unfair: you have to pay for that!
I’ve found a few alternatives and the one i like most is the simplest (for my simple needs): it’s called Pauker. It’s made in Java and it’s open source.
You can’t use audio and visual like in Supermemo, but you’re forced to make your very flashcards, as there are (almost) none ![]()
(flashcards are just virtual cards with the problem/question on one side and the solution on the other side).
I think i’ll start with very simple cards like:
- how do you say <put a word here> in three different languages (e.g. English, German, Russian)
- what’s the formula of <put your chemical substance here>
…and so on.
I’ll come back to the subject of learning as i’m very interested in it
